WOMEN WHO THINK TOO MUCH - Susan Nolen-Hoeksema
I've been on a bit of a reading spree lately! While I've shared a few of my favorite books, this is one I genuinely felt compelled to talk about. I saw so much of myself in its pages & I have a feeling many of you will too.
The book breaks down three common thinking patterns that many women experience:
Overthinkers tend to replay the past, revisiting conversations, decisions, or moments they wish had gone differently.
Those consumed by present concerns become overwhelmed by what's happening right now, focusing on everything going wrong instead of what they're capable of overcoming.
Worriers live in the future, caught in an endless cycle of "what ifs" and imagining worst-case scenarios before they've even happened.
These thought patterns drain our energy and keep us from being present. This is a reminder that while we can't always control the thoughts that enter our minds, we can choose what we do with them. The next time you start spiraling - pause. take a breath, ground yourself & surrender the things you can't control to God (or whatever higher power you believe in), and gently bring your focus back to the present. Your mind is a powerful tool, but it was never meant to carry the weight of every "what if," every regret, or every fear.

BACK IN SESSION
Where did the summer go? It’s hard to believe that school is already right around the corner! As kids head back, it’s the perfect time to think about their daily habits and how they can support healthy growth, good posture, and overall well-being throughout the school year.
1) Lighten the Load
Whenever possible, opt for a rolling backpack. If a backpack is necessary, make sure it fits properly, both shoulder straps are used, and the weight stays as light as possible.
2) Bring Learning Materials to Eye Level
Whether they're reading a textbook, using an iPad, or working on a laptop, encourage children to raise their materials closer to eye level. This helps reduce forward head posture and unnecessary strain on the neck and shoulders.
3) Prioritize Quality Sleep
Adequate sleep is essential for focus, learning, growth, and recovery. As school schedules return, gradually adjust bedtime routines to ensure your child is getting the rest they need.
4) Encourage Movement Throughout the Day
Long periods of sitting can lead to stiffness and fatigue. Encourage walking and outdoor play after school to help keep muscles and joints moving.
5) Stay Hydrated
Proper hydration supports energy levels, concentration, & overall health. Sending your child with a reusable water bottle can make it easier to drink water throughout the day.
Food for Thought
"I serve, I deserve."
This is a reminder that when we lead with purpose, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others, we are also worthy of receiving in return. By serving others with our gifts, knowledge and heart, we create positive impact and it's okay to accept abundance, rest, joy, and success as part of that exchange. You don't have to choose between giving and receiving. Both can exist in harmony, allowing you to continue showing up as your healthiest, most authentic self.
