A Fresh Season, A Fresh Start

September carries a quiet sense of new beginnings. A chance to reset and reconnect with intention. The routines begin to settle, the mornings feel a little crisper, and before you know it, everything is painted in shades of fall.
This might be my favorite time of year. Give me the changing leaves, cozy weekends, pumpkin spice everything, and all the little special moments. What I love most about fall is the invitation to slow down. Unlike the hustle of a new year or the rush to accomplish more, September reminds us that a fresh start doesn’t have to mean doing more; it can simply mean coming back to the things that help us feel our best.
As the days get shorter and we spend more time indoors, it’s easy for our routines to shift and fall into the mindset of waiting until January to “start fresh.”
Instead, let September be your reminder that you don’t have to wait for a new year to take care of yourself. A reset can happen in any season. Maybe that looks like prioritizing sleep, preparing nourishing meals, staying consistent with your chiropractic care or simply slowing down enough to listen to what your body needs.
As we welcome this new season I will commit to quieting the constant thoughts running through my mind & prioritizing more time for the things that help me feel grounded: movement, home-cooked meals and taking care of myself. What will you commit to?
The 10-Minute Walk
One of the simplest habits for better health is also one of the most overlooked; a short walk after a meal.
It doesn't require a gym membership, fancy equipment, or a major time commitment. Just 10 minutes of movement can have a meaningful impact on how your body functions and how you feel.
Some of the benefits include:
Better blood sugar regulation
Improved digestion
Reduced stress
More daily movement
A chance to step away from screens and reconnect with nature
The best part? It's sustainable.
Remember, your health isn't built by the occasional grand gesture. It's built by the small habits you choose day after day. Consistency will always outperform intensity when it comes to creating lasting change.
Consider this your challenge for the week: take a 10-minute walk after as many meals as you can. Your body and your future self will thank you. I'd love to hear how you feel by the end of the week!
Food for Thought
"We are often taught to search outside of ourselves, when so much wisdom comes from looking within."
From the time we are in school to the seminars we attend, we are constantly encouraged to seek information: read the book, listen to the podcast, study the material, find the expert, learn more. While there is so much value in gaining knowledge from others, there are some answers that cannot be found outside of ourselves.
Sometimes the most powerful insights come from slowing down enough to listen inward. It can feel uncomfortable to sit with our own thoughts, feelings, and intuition, but that space often reveals things we may not have noticed before.
This is something I’ve become much more aware of in recent years. Learning to trust myself, my intuition, and what I feel in my body has been a journey, but it has also been incredibly empowering. Instead of constantly searching for validation or looking for an answer outside of myself, I’ve learned to pause and ask, “What is my own wisdom telling me?”
The next time you’re faced with a decision, try sitting in that moment of uncertainty before immediately reaching for your usual source of reassurance. Take a few minutes to get quiet, tune inward, and notice what comes up for you.
Sometimes the answer we’re searching for has been within us all along.
